Grading

Graded activities in OLA courses will be assigned points and the final grade will reflect the actual points earned compared with the total points possible. Each semester course includes a final exam as well. A percentage grade can be calculated using these points and the student’s school can then assign letter grades according to local grading policies.

Students and parents will have the ability to check student grades at anytime by logging into the student’s learning center.
Student Performance Tracking

Attendance will be measured in academic performance. School administrators can monitor the number of log-ins or time spent online for each student, but what is really important is successfully completing the course in the expected time frame . Performance expectations will be determined at the time of enrollment for each student by setting an anticipated end date for each course.  Using the date enrolled and the anticipated end date, a Personalized Education Plan (PEP) will be created for

the student.  This PEP will set due dates for each lesson based on the time they have to complete the course.

As the student goes through the course, the student's current grade and their pace percentage will be calculated.  The pace percentage is a reflection of if the student is on track or if they are behind.  This pace percentage is converted to number of weeks behind.  The following chart is then used to determine a student's status.

The following is a sample report that can be generated by student, by course or by school. It provides great information to help track and monitor student performance in their online courses.
* For example, if a student has a 75% in the course and is 2 weeks behind schedule, they will be in Watch status. Student data will be compiled for each course the student is enrolled in.
